Fear

Fear is irrational when it
Creeps along the floor
Like an animal with no will.

It slowly climbs up walls with
Arms and legs growing more threatening:
Viscous, black daggers extending,
Shiny eyes peer intently waiting
To feed upon the gripping fear that
Consumes you.

As your fear increases so do the shadows.
Those more daring will hang, dangling from the
Ceiling fan, until they descend slowly to
Envelope your face.

The fear is so cold that you can feel it
In your hands, your legs, your stomach.
You tremble with nausea, but
Don’t know why.
“It’s irrational!” You explain to your rational self,
But in this moment there is not much reason left.
Your chest hurts. You shiver uncontrollably.
You struggle to breath, but have forgotten how.
A blade of ice slices through your core
Piercing your brain without mercy.
Left unplugged…you lose.
